Brilliant place, spectacular atmosphere. Went there with a few mates at night and it was worth going twice in a row. Really brilliant place, could not insist more that you go there after hours, if visiting York.
Don't know about the food, as I went after hours.

After reading some ropey reviews I was reluctant to enter, however my kids really wanted to go inside. Seeing bouncers on the door in the middle of the day was a bit off putting until they smiled at the kids and invited us in to have a look round and take some photos. Everyone inside was friendly. We had drinks and the kids had a bag of crisps each, we all loved it. I’d highly recommend it!

Was excited to return here after the refurb only to be turned away because we were a group of more than 5. We also witnessed a single man get turned away because he was on his own. What’s that all about?
So if you’re a typical roses or oasis fan with some mates you’ll probably get turned away.
Also. Mentioning something like this on their Facebook page gets you blocked.

Turned away from this place at 2 pm because there was a group of us more than 5 visiting York and in particular this place as we have been here years ago . We are blokes in our 50s with our son's and friends. We are all massive music lovers and love the culture. To be turned away in the manner we did is absolutely disgusting and to think they trying to run a business. Oh well if you can afford to turn away genuine nice people crack on. I hope you fail miserably
